
HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 30

In Remembrance of Harold V. Long, former member of the House of
Delegates from Braxton County.
Whereas, Harold Veon Long was a native West Virginian, and was
born in Braxton County on August 11, 1945; and
Whereas, He graduated from Glenville State College and taught
school for a time at the Braxton County High School; and
Whereas, Harold Long later entered the business world and
became a highly successful member of the Braxton County business
community; and
Whereas, He was elected to the House of Delegates in 1974 and
again in 1976, and served on the Committees on Roads and
Transportation, Finance and Industry and Labor; and
Whereas, He had the great love and respect of the people in his
community, Little Birch, and in Braxton County as a whole, by his
selfless contributions of time and money to many worthy projects
and organizations: Braxton County Redevelopment Corporation; Braxton County Building Commission; Flatwoods-Canoe Run Public
Service District; West Virginia Farm Bureau; Braxton Historical
Society; Region VII Planning Council; the Christ Church United
Methodist church and the governing board of the Braxton County
Memorial Hospital; and
Whereas, His life abruptly ended on August 12, 2000, and he
leaves as his immediate surviving family, his wife, Carolyn Clark
Long and his son, Derek V. Long, his many other family members and
a host of people who knew him as a good man and a faithful friend;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That great regret is hereby expressed by the members of this
body at the passing of Harold V. Long; a man who lived in service
to his community and State and one who will long be missed; and, be
it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby
directed to prepare copies of this resolution for Harold Long's
wife Carolyn Clark Long and his son Derek V. Long.
